make_tape_recovery - Volboot file not loaded
Hi, sorry bothering you, still having another pb.
I'm reading all pages on this forum according to 'Volboot' errors and cannot find any answers (I may have not applied correct workA ?).
Here my configurations & pbs:
*** HPUX11.00 : using make_tape_recovery without any pb (no VMSA serv. loaded, right ?): OK.
*** HPUX11i (on L3000): my big trouble : cannot run "make_tape_recovery -A" command, having :
=> vxvm:vxprint: ERROR: IPC failure: Configuration daemon is not accessible
Reading all forums, cannot find appropriate answer to this pb...
Here what I've tested:
1. swlist : Base-VXVM B.03.50.5 package isntalled
2. having running (for root user) : # ps -ef | grep vx
vxfsd
vxiod
/usr/sbin/vxconfigd -k -m enable
/sbin/sh - /etc/vx/bin/vxrelocd root
vxnotify -f -w 15
/opt/VRTSob/bin/vxsvc -r /etc/vx/isis/Registry
3. remove "state.d" directory from /etc/vx/reconfig.d/ to allow VxVM to start, then reboot system
4. vxdctl mode => mode: disabled (cool, before 3. step, mode: not-running)
5. vxdctl enable => vxvm:vxdctl: ERROR: enable failed: Volboot file not loaded
6. vxconfigd -m enable => vxvm:vxconfigd: ERROR: cannot open /dev/vx/config: Device is already open
7. ... then still have same pb running make_tape_recovery
(Note : whenever having or not touch /state.d/install-db directory & file, make_tape_recovery doesn't run fine.)
What can I do for this ?
How can I (should I?) activate my VxVM server to further use make_tape_recovery ?
Help, Thx,
Stephane.

Re: make_tape_recovery - Volboot file not loaded
What version of Ignite/UX are you running? According to the Ignite release notes, http://software.hp.com/products/IUX/docs/release_note.html you need at least version B.4.0 in order to have support for VxVM.
I would recommend upgrading to the most current version and try again.

Re: make_tape_recovery - Volboot file not loaded
Thanks, I've : Ignite-UX Rev B.3.5.89
I cannot change this vers. as I'm under testing whole HPUX 11.11 configuration with fix releases&patches.
Another question, then; can I backup on tape my HPUX11i systems with other script/tools than the make_tape_trecovery one ?
Stephane.

Re: make_tape_recovery - Volboot file not loaded
Ignite/UX is the easiest way to go to back your entire system and configuration.
I think the old version is your problem. Ignite/UX will not change any other functionality of the system and can be installed without a reboot. I would seriously consider installing the latest version.
