Making an Ignite Disk image to be ftp'd off for storage
All,
what is the best method of creating an ignite image of a box that I can ftp off somewhere while an ignite server is built.
also - is it possible to include all volume groups while excluding a directory.
eg: -x inc_all=vg00 -x inc_all=vg02 -exclude=/mnt (/mnt is in vg02)
thanks

Re: Making an Ignite Disk image to be ftp'd off for storage
There is no BEST method. Just create your "golden image" out of make_sys_image(1M) to suite your needs. It maybe a golden image of your Ignite Server even if you want and just stash it in some directory that you need not even FTP elsewhere.
Here's how:
1. Install your preferred HP-UX Release
2. Install Additional Software, Drivers and Patches that may be standard accross your enterprise. (Do not install Ignite-UX yet or if it's already installed, leave it..)
3. Use make_sys_image to create your "Golden Image" and store it in some path/filesystem that you can skip including while creating the image...
4. Build your Ignite Server and "settle" the golden image in... Note though the Golden Image need not reside in the same server as the Ignite-UX server.
There should be a wealth of docus and tutorials on this. One is:
