Re: Managing HP-UX Centrally

Hi Amit,

Exactly what "managing 20 srvrs" mean?

For user mngmt & n/w services you can use NIS with automounting.

For logs, you can direct all the machines to log in to one of the server (syslog)

you can configure sendmail and write some scripts for performance tuning and monitoring.

Re: Managing HP-UX Centrally

Actually Service Control Manager has now been superseded by System Insight Manager, which can also manage Proliant/Windows systems, and Linux (I think maybe Tru64 and OpenVMS too):

This is also completely free...

Re: Managing HP-UX Centrally

Hi Amit ,

HP Systems Insight Manager , [ Combines Insight Manager 7 + HP Toptools + HP Service Control Manager] .Can be used to manage large HP Systems.

OVERVIEW:
HP Systems Insight Manager combines the best of Insight Manager 7, HP Toptools, and HP Servicecontrol Manager to deliver hardware fault, asset, and configuration management for all of your HP Systems.

HP SIM can be easily extended to deliver rapid deployment and performance management for ProLiant Servers, or workload and partition management for Integrity and HP 9000 systems. It can be extended with management for HP clients, storage, printers and power products, and can manage non- HP platforms through industry standard management protocols.

And can be Downloaded from the following link , which can be used to manage large HP-Ux systems ,

Re: Managing HP-UX Centrally

Part of your problem will be that 10.20 is not supported anymore, particularly for commercial based software.
There are a number of script techniques that can be used to assist you. You could of course search the forums for the sysadmin favourite script threads for help, as these provide a gold mine.
