Re: March 2001 GR patch bundle

No prlems at all , we got it with one L clase server last month , actually it helped us to solve some other stuff too , as it had some patches for tach card on KClass.

I've installed it on a a K, D, and A box without any problems. All are sandboxes and I have noticed no problems it about 10 days of operation.

Re: March 2001 GR patch bundle

Yes I had a problem installing XSWGR1100 to a K360.

The 'model' command on our particular server was not returning the correct model string to start with (no corresponding entry in /etc/.supported_bits). This caused a problem with the telnetd patch PHNE_21822 - the patch wasn't installed properly and caused a mismatch between the telnet version in the kernel and the daemon. The result was 'I_LINK_DEV ioctl failed' in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log when attempting to remote telnet to the server, and 'connection closed by foreign host' on the client.

Removing the patch removed the problem.

We have since had HP hardware support repatch the server with the correct model string and I am yet to re-apply the patch.

This is actually a firmware problem on the server rather than a problem with the bundle itself. Apparently K360 servers manufactured before mid-1998 had this 'feature' with the model string, but HP should have sorted most of them out by now. Still something to be careful of though.

just to add, I've seen this problem too:
PHNE_22159
fixes the problem.
