March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

1 Point per post, please post issues you have with the forums.

HP is working on the performance problems and would appreciate knowing the date and time of incidents. Please include the local time zone to make it easier for them to look at the logs.

Please keep it to issues and to the original inten of HP when they created this thread 4 years ago. I don't know of the moderators will monitor, but I've been assured this one will not disappear.

Forums sucesses:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=988576

Note: this thead is authorized by ITRC management, please contact them before deleting it.

I give HP my blessing to remove any content from this thread they find inappropriate. I am not speaking, typing or acting on behalf of HP, I am doing these things on behalf of the ITRC community.

I will not monitor this thread during the Sabbath in Israel, but feel free to use it, hopefully HP will monitor it.

:-) to all.

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

Steve,

First off, thanks once again for working so hard to get this Issues thread going. My turn next month.

So, then on to my monthly attempt to summarize familiar, repeating issues

1) Repeat the bread crumb navigation links at the bottom of the
page so we don't have to page all the way up to the top of long
threads. Also, add the same links to the notification pages.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***

2) Could we possibly have a real, functional search engine?
Please??

3) Allow for formatted text that does not lose spaces, so script
snippets can be understood.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***

4) Provide the ability for a user to customize the forum subjects
they view by setting up their own groupings (like: all of HP-UX,
plus Servers (9000), plus Workstations (hp-ux based), plus all
of Storage - well, you get the idea).
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***

5) From Merijn: The ability to have a fixed signature in one's
profile.

6) Is it possible to fix it so the "javascript.open" function works
the same in different browsers - in Netscape, firefox, Opera,
etc., the link opens in the same window.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***

7) Now that the new headgear situation has been addressed, I
think it's time to start asking for it to be addressed again.
There is really only room for two stars underneath the wreath.
What are you going to do once Clay hits 80,000 points? How
about a wreath of stars? You could probably fit 5 or six nice
gold stars in a wreath and set the value of each succeeding
star high enough that you should be able to have the system
ready for "y1m" (that's 1,000,000, I think). You could award
one star at a time or put the outline in place and color the
stars in as they are earned.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***

8) By popular demand (particularly SEP): Making standards
compliant browsers such as Firefox, Mozilla and Opera, supported.

9) Allow the originator the ability to edit their own postings.

OK, I'll go first:

Moderators, if you're out there, would you kindly delete my second and third responses in this thread? I was experimenting with formatting, and hit the "submit" button instead of the "preview" button.

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

Hi,

I'm trying to update my forums profile with my New location where I work. Though the fields are editable, it does not modify the data, if I click the modify button.

Currently The country I live in is mentioned as "Malaysia". But I want to it be changed to "India". I'm unable to change my "company" field also.

Please kindly help me in modifying the same.

Thanks and regards,

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

Please have my first reply in http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1009581 removed. The second has the attachment, the first has not.

You can also consider this a performance issue. I had two timeouts, one service unavailable, and one other message I don't remember. I blame the system, not myself.

Is it possible to have a individual search in our profile itself (Threads which we replied or asked questions).?

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

senthil kumar,

You have two profiles. Modify the name of one of the profiles.

See this thread for details:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1007452

Moderators and HP management,

Letting the thread exist is not the same thing as taking action based on issues raised here.

I believe the issues raised are legitimate and the thread is being used as intended when Dan created it years ago. TIA for your actions on these matters.

Hi SEP,

Thanks a lot. As per your suggestion I did change my forum name. Now I'm able to change the details. Good work around. :)

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

Having gotten tired of waiting for a moderator to respond to my plea for editing (see my second posting - above), I posted a thread in the "Questions regarding Forums" section and within just a couple of hours it was taken care of.

I guess that makes it pretty obvious that they are going to let us have our thread to whine in but they aren't going to moderate it.

Talk about disappointing!

And "system unavailable" more just to get the prior post posted ( 3 tries to save the above post).

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

Would it make more sense to host this thread in the "Questions regarding Forums" section?

I think it's being a little parochial to insist that the only people who know what the forums are about reside in the HP-UX General forum. There are people getting thousands of points with barely any in the HP-UX forums.

To the objection that people would have to watch two forums, well, I don't think that's really a big problem for the more knowledgeable contributor, and you can use tools such as requesting notification on the current monthly thread to see any updates.

Re: March 2006 AUTHORIZED ITRC issues thread

Andrew,

I would suggest that if you want a thread posted in the "Questions" section, feel free.

The whole point of SEP starting this thread here in the HP-UX section is to provide a familiar and convenient vehicle for those accustomed to having it here.
