Re: Massive grongratulations!

Hartmut, the only problem I would have with that, is that it will allways be /me/ to asign points. It's much simpler now, and - yes - takes much less time than a month ago, but still is not one of my favourite actions. I'd rather answer perl questions :)

Another problem - which proved here already - is that it's not only asigning points, but I also have to *read*, because it is in good habit of the forum that the promotees get 10 points for a reaction on their congratulation thread (provided they enlighten the forum with some private info :). This means that I must also watch is anyone on the list already had his/her own congrat thread already (like Pete, who will show on the promotion list next week). So I invite the promotees to tell something about themselves and collect 10 points (V.V. Ravi, steven Burgess, and Nick Wickens are gladly invited to do so too and collect their 9 additional points)

Martin, updated.
Justo, you tell me :)
Jeanine, you are added.
PIYUSH, thanks
Jeff, you are on the manual list already, so don't complain :P

Re: Massive grongratulations!

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.... very well, where do i begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for Morris Dancing. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my ........

Actually my life is not nearly as exciting as Doctor Evil's - I work for a Small Insurance (The No 1 in Childrens savings !!!) company in Tunbridge Wells, Kent England and have done so for the last 10 years both on NCR mainframe and HP9000. Prior to that was a 6 year period on IBM MVS mainframes also in Tunbridge Wells, I went to school in Tunbridge Wells, was born in Tunbridge Wells and will probably die in Tunbridge Wells !.

If you want to see how 16 years of IT and shiftwork have effected my waistline check http://www.nickwickens.co.uk.

Nick, that's a good one. I had a good laugh.

Merijn, always well done as usual! :-)

I wish Dan could do something about the spacing problem so that the alignment of data (including the headers) will not go into disarray.

My 2 cents. Regards.

Re: Massive grongratulations!

Hi Merijn,

Sorry, I wasn't complaining.
Just pointing out to Jeanine the J/M situation.

As always Merijn, job well done.
And BTW, I'm shining up a crown for you my friend....not much longer now.
Want me to call all my SA buddies & have 'em post Perl questions? ;^)

Cheers,
Jeff

Re: Massive grongratulations!

Jeff, can they handle obfuscated code? :))
Can you reserve me a leightweight crown with black lining (my favourite color), I'm affraid I have to wear it for a long time, and I am soooo used to this comfy pointy hat.

perl-5.8.0 - the next stable release - is planned for ..... TODAY!

So I guess the perl5 porters team will be flooded by questions the coming month :/

I'll make my ports available on https://www.beepz.com/personal/merijn ASAP

Re: Massive grongratulations!

Hello everybody,

excellent job procura! Congrats to all!
Hey, this thing moves fast. Steven has only some 80pts left for egyptian headgear!

What about me ? Well there must be a bio somewhere in this forum, so just as a shortcut:

age 38, single, no kids, in SAP/UNIX/Oracle for about 8 years now, 5 years in development before. What is about to come ? Well, SAP is changing all the time, currently they go for JAVA, so yet another new topic in SAP-Basis.

Have a nice day
Volker

Re: Massive grongratulations!

Thanks, Merijn!

It's a pleasure to see so many new hats on so many well-known and soon-to-be-well-known names!
So I was "not connected" for about two weeks time and we've got new royalties, wizards, new graduates, pros and Dan knows how many new users...
Did Dan not already wear a "Pro" hat? Am I getting old or did he reincarnate into his pre-hatted state???

Congratulations to all of you and thanks for taking you time to answer!

Knowing exactly how much work these statistics are, I do understand why you won't do it graphically. That was one of the reasons why I stopped doing this statistic business (and your "perl" scripts are much more elaborate than my old "awk" scripts every were, I am sure).
Maybe someone else want to take over that task?

Regards to you all,
Wodisch
