Max number of device files on hpux11
Hi there,
I am wondering does HPUX 11i has any limit on the number of device files cxtxdx? What is the maximum number allows?

Hi,
HP-UX 11iv1, 11iv2 max architectural limit for luns is 32k (and corresponding pairs of block/char dsf's per lun). Note that in 11iv1, v2 the lun/DSF is per path to the logical unit. So this is a max architectural limit of 32k paths/luns/DSFs and a max supported limit of 8k logical units/16k paths.
HP-UX 11iv3 max luns is 16 million architectural limit (path independent). Max Supported limit (which rises constantly within the release) is 16k logical units/DSFs and 64k paths. Note that in 11iv3 there is a new device naming scheme which is now path independent (ex : /dev/rdisk/disk10) and thus, the lun limits are per logical unit (16M architectural max, 16k max tested/supported).
