maxfiles_lim is not a multiple of the file descriptor chunk size (8)

Warning: The value of 8196 for tunable maxfiles_lim is not a multiple of the file descriptor chunk size (8). This may result in unusable memory in each process.


I m getting following error while booting vpar.
i had set this value foe Websphere application server.

I guess you tried to set it as 8K, but the value 8196 is just above.

You don't need to worry about this. This is not a serious warning, just an information message for the administrator.

If you want, you can set the value to 8192, which is exactly 8K and you may not receive this warning.

Per HP, this is not a serious error. Only a message.Does the application specifically say to set it to 8196? What about 8192?

Have you changed any other parameters along with this? See below.

The value assigned to maxfiles must be less than or equal to the value
of maxfiles_lim.

The value of nfile must be equal to or greater than two times the
value of maxfiles_lim.

Hi Prakash,

Please make the value of maxfiles_lim to a multiple of 8 and then you wont be having issue with that message.
