maximum # of devices which can be addressed
Wondering if anyone knows offhand the maximum of devices that can be addressed by a server on HP-UX 11.00. We will be hooking up 2 EMC arrays to our servers and I'm concerned that the 2 arrays will present more hypervolumes then the servers are capable of handling. Each hypervolume would require 2 device files as there are 2 paths to each. If each server is allowed to see all hypervolumes, then that would require approx. 2000 device files.

Re: maximum # of devices which can be addressed
HI
EMC can convert the logical volumes into Meta-volumes (combining 4 logical units). This would reduce your numbers by 1/4.
I was told by EMC Eng. that on any fiber channel more that 128 logical unit may degrade the performance for HP machines.
Thanks.
Prashant.
