Dear Experts.
we are having 2 2405 servers & we wanted to configure them in cluster using mc/service guard & we are planning to buy ds2300 as a external storage which is supported in Mc/service guard configuration,
Does anybody have this configuration, please let me know what else components we have to buy for this configration?how we will do raid configration?
Please advice me since i am new in clustering..!

Re: Mc/Service guard configuration

DS2300 is a JBOD. So you should have MirrorDisk/UX software for configuring RAID volumes.

For cluster configuration refer,

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B3936-90073/B3936-90073.html

Re: Mc/Service guard configuration

I've read info for the DS2300 and assume it's a jbod, but there wasn't anything in the specs or info online about it. The DS2100 and 2110 said raid was avail only through software solution or a pci raid controller.... so I'd have to guess the DS2300 is the same, but a sales rep should be able to answer this.

you can use LVM or VxVM for s/w raid, or look into HP 4si RAID controller.

Re: Mc/Service guard configuration

If you are looking for a hardware raid solution, use the 4si RAID controller. It'll work with your rp2405....

http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J6173-90008/00/00/7-con.html

I can't say I've set this up or used it, but there are docs and release notes out there. Have a look at docs.hp.com and search for 4si RAID. rp2405 specs are also here:

http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/rackoptimized/05series/rp2405/specs.html

hope this helps,

Re: Mc/Service guard configuration

Raid 4SI controllers do NOT support Multi Initiation, (shared discs to you and I ) and are therefore not suported for shared storage in a Serviceguard cluster.
This card is also aimed at lower end systems/environments, and not HA environments
