MC/Service Guard license

If we already have MC/Service guard on a server and now want to add another server as the failover server do we need to have the vendor quote the server alone or do we need to have MC/service guard included or is there a node license of some sort ???

If you are adding another node to the cluster I think you need an MC/SG license for that node.

Yes. You do need to have license for each installation of MC/ServiceGuard.

The price is per SPU so if you are adding another node you need an additional license. The price is also determined by the 'tier' of the machine so that big boxes cost more than little boxes.

From the HP Unix Servers Configuration Guide:

B3935A License for one system - Each node (system) of an enterprise cluster must license one copy of MC/ServiceGuard.
