MC Serviceguard ATS - Supported Devices/FibreSCSIMUX

What Fibre SCSI MUX are supported by ATS in HP MC ServiceGuard environment?

ATS documentation states that /etc/cmcluster/shared tape/ats_tapelibs can be modified to add device support. Besides the devices listed in this file what other devices can be added to the list?

Re: MC Serviceguard ATS - Supported Devices/FibreSCSIMUX

Hello Suchit,

FC SCSI Mux product numbers are A33401, A3511A, and A3511AZ.

That said, new customers cannot purchase the only supported Fibre Channel SCSI bridge certified with ServiceGuard (and ATS); Fibre Channel SCSI Multiplexing 4/2.
This means only existing customers that already have the supported ATS hardware can continue to use this feature until HP-UX 11.0 or HP-UX 11i are obsolete. Currently ATS is only supported in MC/ServiceGuard clusters of four nodes or less; meaning 2, 3, and 4 node clusters.
We recommend alternative shared tape solutions like HP's Omniback or VERITAS's Netbackup.

Re: MC Serviceguard ATS - Supported Devices/FibreSCSIMUX

I appreciate your response Stephen!

I still havent found the answers I was looking for, let me provide you with some more detail in case that helps.

I have a 2 node MC/ServiceGuard installation. I want to be able to hook up a tape library and want to use ATS to access the library and the drives.

I have SCSI-Fibre bridge and Fibre Channel Switch and HP library. Can I use this equipment and hook up both the HP nodes to the switch and connect the bridge to the switch and the Tape library?

I appreciate your response.

Re: MC Serviceguard ATS - Supported Devices/FibreSCSIMUX

Hi Suchit,

1. The product numbers of the supported Fibre Channel SCSI MUX are A33401, A3511A,
and A3511AZ.

2. The 9000 Server Configuration Guide (internal document) lists the following Tape
devices as supported:

DLT4000
DLT7000
STK9490(aka Timberline)
STK SD-3 (aka Redwood)

... and the following tape libraries:
HP DLT 2/15
HP DLT 2/28
HP DLT 2/48
HP DLT 3/30
HP DLT 4/48
HP DLT 6/100
HP DLT 10/588

3. I can best answer this question by having you refer to the document title "Using Advanced Tape Services (HP-UX 11.0) " located at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/ha/index.html#ServiceGuard

If you implement ATS, we recommended that you patch ServiceGuard, stape SCSI, sctl, FCMS (FC Mass Storage) and diagnostics.
