MC Serviceguard

I created a 2 node cluster which works very well. At this point I only have one lan port in use. All scenarios of the failover works fine. i.e reboots, manual switching of packages, etc. The problem is when I pull the lan card, the system hangs but the package does not failover to the secondary node. I have tested this on both nodes and get the same results. When I plug the cable back in the packages are still up and running. The package control and conf files appear to be ok. Any advice?

Hi,

1. do you use cluster disk lock ?
2. do you have only one LAN (no separate Heartbeat) ?

Re: MC Serviceguard

What are you using for a cluster lock and heartbeat?

With a single LAN card, you can use the serial port for heartbeat...

Any messages in syslog after you pull the lan cable?

Re: MC Serviceguard

run cmscancl and supply the contents of the /tmp/scancl.out file
Also which version of SG, and what SG patch is installed? Run:
what /usr/lbin/cmcld |grep PHSS

Re: MC Serviceguard

Yes, I have a cluster lock disk functional. I do have a heartbeat ip also configured on a lan port

Re: MC Serviceguard

Hi,

can you attach you package config file.
Did you set SUBNET param in config file for monitoring.

Re: MC Serviceguard

Okay, are the packages dependent on the lan card? IE - do you have a "relocatable" ip address assigned to the packages?

Re: MC Serviceguard

Thanks for all the help. I discovered I did not have a SUBNET in the pkg.conf file. All should be ok now.
