MC/SG 11.08 and EMC Storage Array

Our site is planning on connecting two clustered N4000-44(s) running HPUX-11.00 to an EMC storage array. We have been told by EMC that MC/SG 11.08 is not certified with their storage array (11.07 and 11.09 are). After further questioning EMC indicated that HP does not support MC/SG 11.08 on 3rd party storage arrays.

Does anyone know anything about this, or why HP would support 11.07 and 11.09, but not 11.08?

Thanks

Typical "catch 22"!!!

I love the way these guys play together. If they were my kids I'd spank both of them!

Re: MC/SG 11.08 and EMC Storage Array

hi,

I am not sure what the deal is about. But, fyi: the systems i support use
mc/sg 11.09 with EMC symm as storage.

Since 11.09 is newer release than 11.08/11.07, i think you can use 11.09 and forget about the headache of incompatible support.

I agree with both of you (Harry and RajMan), but we only work here, and our application clients don't want us to change the version level unless we have a valid technical reason.

Re: MC/SG 11.08 and EMC Storage Array

I do not know where they get that from, as it is supported.
I would advise you, however, to use a minimum of Sg 11.09
SG 11.08 has been superseded by 11.09 (and 11.12/11.13) and will have no further patches/fixes.
The current release is 11.13, but 11.09 will continue to be patched until mid 2002 (approximately).

Infact, it is advisable to move to 11.09 , which is what HP suggested to us from support and stability point of view.
