MCOE and Kernel Parameters

Good morning,

I have used FOE and EOE and had to set many kernel parameters like dbc_max_pct dbc_min_pct, nproc, ninode shm* and others.

Consultant is telling me MCOE is fine tuned, there is NO need to set any parameters.
is this true.

Re: MCOE and Kernel Parameters

That is incorrect. None of the operating environments have the kernel parameters tuned any differently from any other OE's.

You will still need to tune all of your kernel parameters as usual.

ALWAYS check the kernel parameters, no matter what.

The only differneces in the OE's are the products that are included by default.

Re: MCOE and Kernel Parameters

I agree MCOE includes more products by default like ignite, MCSG etc...

As far as Kernel parameters are concerned you need to manually tune them as per your requirement.

Re: MCOE and Kernel Parameters

Hi:

The whole idea of having tunables is to be able to adapt your kernel for your particular environment! You need to hire a new consultant if (s)he thinks that one-size-fits-all. Perhaps the consultant in question has no idea of the versatility of HP-UX or how to manage it.

Regards!
