Mediainit fails verification on FC disk
When I run "mediainit -v" on a Fibre Channel disk, I always receive the following messages:
mediainit: unable to fix disk
mediainit: verification of media failed.
However, if I initialize the disk with a tool like an I-Tech IFC-4, it formats without error. Any ideas?

Re: Mediainit fails verification on FC disk
You have to make sure that none of your other disks on your fc10 are in use when using mediainit.

Re: Mediainit fails verification on FC disk
I am open to be corrected.
I seldom rather reluctant to use mediainit on the disks particularly LUNs on storage subsystems. Even for the whole disk configuratoin, newfs is going to take care of it anyway. pvcreate -f will destroy PV structures in case of PVs. Why would you want to use mediainit?.
I restrict the use of mediainit only to tapes.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: Mediainit fails verification on FC disk
Hi,
I've seen where 'pvcreate -f' will not work
after it has been initialised by the use of
Veritas Volume Manager, so only specific
software or even a mediainit will work.
my 2 cents worth
