How much memory?

When was the last patch bundle installed?

Kernel parameters?

500-Gigabyte logical volume??? ...

HFS or VxFs, 10.20, 11.0, 11.11 ?...

Well, in all cases, the maximum logical volume size has got to be equal to the maximum filesystem size, so see here for limits:

What command are you giving to create this with? What is the OS version, etc? On hpux 10.20 you cannot make a logical volume this large...
