memory question

Hi Admins,
I've got a system running HP-UX 11.11 with 8GB Ram and 8GB swap configured ( 2 CPUs )
But if I run top or look at the memory page in SAM, it says:
Real
Active 2039733,4 KB
Total 3344601,6 KB
Virtual
Active 2159399,0 KB
Total 3565776,8 KB
Free 1063106 * 4KB ( = 4152 MB )
Swap
Available 8192 MB
Used 3374 MB
Free 4818 MB

Now my questions:
Does the Real and Virtual Memory shown depend on the processes running?

How can I guess the overall virtual/real memory, processes can access?

Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Ute
