Memory Upgrade
Hi ,
I have upgraded the memory from 16GB to 32GB in a rx2660 server , i have changed the shmmax value to 32768000000 to reflect the change ,
but the application team tell me that after adding the memory , the system is more slower !!!
is there any other parameter i should change other than the shmmax ?
Thnak you

Re: Memory Upgrade
Why would you want to set shmmax to the size of memory? You need to reserve some for the buffer cache and other uses.

Re: Memory Upgrade
I dont think that you need to change shmmax value to take effect the memory change on the system.
Thanks

Re: Memory Upgrade
1. ask to DBA admin the size of shmmax and don't set the shmmax value to the total of physical memory
2. check the dbc kernel parameter and resize the value
2. check the dbc kernel parameter and resize the value
