Memory viewing/mapping program for HPUX?

I recall that the SGI IRIX boxes have a very slick graphical utility that shows you how much memory (RAM + swap) all the processes on the system are taking (I don't mean "top"). I've forgotten the name of the utility, but it presents a large stacked bar chart (looks like a Dagwood sandwich). It changes dynamically as things happen on the system. You can also drill-down by clicking on each slice, and you then get a view of one particular process and all the stack/data/text area it's soaking up. You can even drill down further and see activity at the memory address level. Very slick.

Question of course, is whether there's a similar utility available for HPUX. You'd think something like PerfView would have such a beast but I'm not sure it does.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mike M.

Perfview won't really help you in that it will only report on data that has been written to the Measureware data files, so it won't be dynamic real-time.

The closest thing to what you want would probably be Glance, though I don't think the information is displayed in exactly the way you describe. I think Glance would be a good place for you to start though.

Thank you Patrick for that quick response. I'll take a peek at Glance and see what it can do.

Re: Memory viewing/mapping program for HPUX?

Mike,

You could configure Measureware DSI (data source integration) for Glance data (usually logged by running Glance in adviser_only mode). You can then connect PerfView to your DSI source and view Glance metrics of your choice in PerfView.

Furthermore, if you want to see a "Dagwood sandwich" type of a graph, you could define your own "applications" in /var/opt/perf/parm file and then use "application metrics" of your choice.

For further details, see documentation under /opt/perf/paperdocs. I would also recommend:

Glance is an character based application.

gpm ( glance plus manager) is a graphic manager for glance.

You can install a trial from application CD's.
