Message: End of Volume, ...

Hi
As I try to restore files from a tape, using "cpio -icdumxB < /dev/rmt/0m" command, the following message is bieng displayed: "End of volume. If you want to go on type device/file name when ready". I answer: "/dev/rmt/0m", and it replys: "User opend file /dev/rmt/0m to continue. End of volume. ...".
What is to done?

Re: Message: End of Volume, ...

Is your archive created and continued on to more than one tape??

Re: Message: End of Volume, ...

Seems you created a backup on more tapes, cpio is asking for the second tape to continue.

Hope this helps,

Re: Message: End of Volume, ...

did you face any error while copying the data?? Any problem with the DAT Drive??

Re: Message: End of Volume, ...

Maybe you have two volumes on the same tape. Try using /dev/rmt/0mn and when it asks for the second volume, try /dev/rmt/0m.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

Re: Message: End of Volume, ...

Thanks for trying tohelp.
To Naveej: I have not tested with "mt" yet, but I will.
To Mark Grant: I have tested with all the options that a "ioscan -fun" produces for the tape device, including /dev/rmt/0mn, and the result is the same.
