Hi,
we want to create Metrocluster/CA with XP arrays in following configuration:
Locality A, 2 servers (A1, A2), XP array 1
Locality B, 2 servers (B1, B2), XP array 2
Arrays are connected using DWDM using Continuous Access.
Locality A and B are on different networks (not on the same LAN).
Is such configuration supported for metrocluster, or should these 4 servers be configured as physically another LAN using DWDM (and configuring router from networks A and B to this metroclaster LAN)? I have read in documentation that heartbeat can't be routed, but for data connection I didn't find any limitation.
When is it possible, how should I set the package IP address when localities A and B are on different networks?
Thanks for information.

Solution
The rules for a Metrocluster are htsame as for a normal Serviceguard cluster, and that is that all nodes in the cluster must be on the same network.
How you set that network up is the question, possibly using Vlans?

Re: Metrocluster on nodes in different LANs
I've attached chapter 6 of HP's SGII class from 2001.
Regarding "... have read in documentation that heartbeat can't be routed..." -TRUE. Two separate heartbeat networks are required.
Regarding "...but for data connection I didn't find any limitation..."
Limitation by distance? Limitation by number of LANS? If distance then 50KM but this may have increased by now. If LANS then ???
Regarding "...how should I set the package IP address when localities A and B are on different networks?..."
All subnets to be used are listed package.cntl.
All package ips, and again subnets, are listed in package.conf.
Also, a third data center is indicated in the configuration I've attached.
