Migrate HPUX 10.20 to L2000

Hello all,

I need to have some information/ideas/suggestion on how to migrate 10.20 to L2000. The actual plan is to use Ignite Recovery Tape from old server (K-Class) with HP-UX 10.20 to new server (L2000).

I know that it's recommended by HP to use 10.20 in L2000, but somehow we need to run the old application (under 10.20 libraries) in this new server.

Any help, suggestion and ideas are most welcome

Thanks !

Re: Migrate HPUX 10.20 to L2000

There is no recommended way to migrate HP-UX 10.20 to an L2000.

Why is there no recommended way you might ask? The answer: Because the L series machines do not support 32-bit HP-UX. They are 64-bit only. HP-UX 10.20 is a 32-bit OS.

Your application should run fine under HP-UX 11.0 though.

Here is a matrix of what OS is supported on what machine:

Here are L series specs. Pay specific attention to the supported HP-UX versions row:

Hi,

You will not able to install an ignite 10.20
operating system from a 'k' class server to a
'L' class server. It is simply not possible,
as the 'L' class is architectually designed
to run as a 64 bit system. 32 bit applications
from your 'k' class server should work okay
on HPUX 11, but they will only run as 32 bit.

Re: Migrate HPUX 10.20 to L2000

I would be interested to know where you get the following from:
"I know that it's recommended by HP to use 10.20 in L2000, but somehow we need to run the old application (under 10.20 libraries) in this new server. "

The L-class CANNOT run 10.20 OS, it is 64bit OS only.
That does not stop you running a 32bit application, but load 10.20 OS??? No sir.
