Migrating from Jetadmin to Jetdirect (hppi)

Hi Boys, I have currently running the jetadmin printing server, I know this product is out of support and now I want to install the Jetdirect server (hppi), can anyone tell me if the printers currently configured will have any problem after make this change or what woyld be I safe mode to this transition..thanks

I believe you will have to install jetdirect
the set-up all you printers again using hppi
then swremove jetadmin.

Install the hppi software using swinstall. Next, view/print the file /opt/hpnpl/TRANSFER.UNX. It will explain the operation of the 'transferqueue' located in the /opt/hpnpl/bin directory. It will convert you JetAdmin printers to JetDirect.

Three steps are necessary:


1) Install the HP Printer Installer software using swinstall.


2) Convert spooler files w??th
the command transferqueue

3) remove JetAdmin software using swremove

Hi

You can Install hppi

Remove jetadmin

ln -s /opt/hpnpl /opt/hpnp

It will work

The only problem you get are the filters pointing to a non existant directory if you remove jetadmin . The softlink fixes it.

To be absolutely sure move jetadmin to another name and meke the softlink.

If all works then move jetadmin back.Remove the software and remake the link

I've attached this script I've found useful to both convert printers to jetdirect, build printers from other systems (if /tmp/queues.tar has been saved as /tmp/queues.tar.USEME), and also fix the pesky PERIPH entries where administrators love to use ip addresses or short-hostnames.

After you will install you have a tool
