Re: migrating oracle from one server to another
Khilari,
- If it is a Service Guard package based oracle database , you need to check evey luns are visible on the new system. And import the vgs , start the oracle package. Ask your database team to verify once the package started.
- If you are upgrading OS , say 11iv2 to v3 , you need to import the vgs in agile format , that is with -N option with vgimport. Also make sure your storage frame is suppored by new os. Else you need flare/microcode update on the frame side to be able to work with new os.
Check out the 11iv3 storage connectivity support matrix:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/hpuxconnectivitymatrix.html
As far as oracle concerned there need not to be made any change usually .. , but keep in mind all the kernel parameters should be same as server A to server B , and cpu, memory and swap counts also should be same.
Also patch level should be same.
Hth,
Raj.

Re: migrating oracle from one server to another
You also need to check , if oracle is residing on the internal drive of L class or it is in an external storage. If it is in external storage the migration is much simpler and vgs needs to bring to the new server with import.
If oracle is in internal drive you need to restore from backup after creating the similar VG/LV strutture on the new system.

Cheers,
Raj.
