Re: Migrating Solaris Oracle to HP-UX Oracle
On the Veritas question, if the Solaris system is using VxVM can we use that on HP-UX as the file system to mirror the volume to the EVA and migrate it to a VxFS voilume later on?
John,
That is great input I will make sure to include all of that in the plan if I cannot find a way to simply do a volume copy or something similar.

Re: Migrating Solaris Oracle to HP-UX Oracle
there are two ifs.
You need veritas volume manager AND veritas filesystems on both nodes.
You will need to find some kind of cable to connect your old disk-systems to your new itanium-server or from your "old" solaris server to your EVA.
If you have answers on above ifs you can mirror data between your old disk-system and your new EVA. I did the same with old A5200 disk systems and a new (StorageTek)SAN.

Re: Migrating Solaris Oracle to HP-UX Oracle
O.K. That's great. I will ask them about these two items and make sure they have it. I'll keep this thread open until I find out more.

Re: Migrating Solaris Oracle to HP-UX Oracle
hi phil,
think parallel export
think parallel import
think partial incremntal export/imprt for some of the huge tables that have mostly imports..
above all, find some time to perform a test
that's the only wise way ahead!
kind regards
yogeeraj
