Migrating to new HBA's
Hello
HPUX 11.11
Two node cluster
Service Guard v. A.11.16
EMC environment
The main purpose is to replace the two existing HBA's with two new 4GB HBA's.
The new 4GB HBA's will be installed on different path. Vgextend to the newly created
device files (4GB HBA)to create two more alternate links. Vgextend will result with one primary link and three alternate links. Vgreduce the old links on two 2GB to let the IO
transfer to the new 4GB link. Does this will work this way? If you have a better alternative just let me know.

Re: Migrating to new HBA's
good for everything except cluster lock...
assuming you are using one, changing the cluster lock to a path down the new HBAs requires the cluster to be down whilst you run a cmapplyconf.
otherwise sounds fine...

Re: Migrating to new HBA's
Thanks Duncan for the reply.
Can I replace the 2GB with a 4GB HBA? Re-zone
with new 4GB HBA. Remember that 2GB HBA has td (driver) and the 4GB has fcd driver. Can I maintain the same old device files?

Re: Migrating to new HBA's
Shalom,
It is unlikely that you will maintain the same device files.
To do so, you will need to shut down the system completely, remove the old cards and replace with the new.
You may then be forced to use an ioinit procedure to reset your paths.
