Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
Did you not get the information you needed from your previous post?
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=749881
If you need more help I think you will need to be more specific.

Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
if you are going to use the ias side as well, in my opinion it is easier to go to 10g than ias with 9.
We have had problems with having to installs crashing and patch problems.
Once we decided to goto 10, clean install first time.
This is for the ias side of things, the databases are equally easy to install.
I know a lot of people are going to disagree, so this is only my personal view!

Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
As far as I know Oracle10G is not certified for HPUX11.0.
10G requires HPUX11i

Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
I would note that 11.00 is approaching its end of life and eventually will not be supported. Its time to plan for the 11i v1 upgrade before
Oracle tells you the OS is not supported.

Note that Oracle 9i is only available on 64bits HP-UX 11.

And if possible its prefered to upgrade to HP-UX 11i.

Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
why don't you consider going to Oracle 10g directly instead?
There are many more features and bug fixes in 10g than in Oracle 9i...

Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
I have some more details. As I already told you i am upgrading from 8i to 9i ( due to certain reasons i am not able to go for 10g ).
HPUX version is 11.0 (Again 11.23 is planned later and not allowed to do it now). Sorry for putting lot of constraints...but can't help it.
Find attached the Patching Status and the swlist output of my server.
Awaiting your valuable inputs.

Girish

Re: Migration from oracle 8i to 9i
increase yourr shmmax value.
don't split the SGA across n segments !
What is the memory available on the server ?
What is the target size for the SGA ?
attached doc on SGA improvment
