Migration question
I am working on the migration project of HPUX. We have hpux versions 11, 11.11 and 11.23 running on mix of rp and rx servers. I have few questions in this regard:
1- Can we migrate 11.11 to 11.23 with minimum downtime, the applications we are running are SAP R/3 and we are using oracle 9.2.0 as database.
2- If yes, what are the considerations we should keep in mind before doing that?
3- Any issues we consider in planning phase before doing actually migration?
4- What are the steps involved when doing the actual migration to hpux 11.23 without upgrading the database?
Regards,
Razi

Re: Migration question
Shalom,
1 - Not really. Those apps are complex they don't do well in upgrades and the right way to go is a cold install followed by application re-install. Did you know the OS end of life date on 11.11 is the same as 11.23. You might want to think about 11.31 if your apps support it.
2 - read my previous response.
3 - Get some temporary or new hardware get everything working and then do a data migration cutover when ready.
4 - Don't do it you won't like the results. Technically if you use upgrade-ux all you need to do is relink the back end oracle database.

Re: Migration question
set a lab and similuate your environment. Test each of the application with your OS combination.
recently we had migrated a few serves to 11.23 . One thing i wanted to point out is about transferqueue if you have the printer configured in the system.
transferqueue: To transfer queues from one OS version(machine) to another.
Also we had issue with acrobat version. (Not providing the details as it may not be applicable to you.)
