mirror disk, split, switch and make mirror disk as primary

hi,

I have a 9gb vg00 and i'm adding another disk to mirror it. my problem is that the disk availble is 18gb disk and i dont want to waste the extra 9gb when i do mirroring since number of extents left for my 9gb/vg00 is only 10gb.
this means i'll be wasting my 8gb if i dont do the workaround.

i'm planning to do the following;
1. do ignite to backup my vg00
2. do interactive ignite recovery to increase number of extents and file system sizes
3. increase number of extents to 20gb
4. adjust file system sizes
5. reboot server
6. extend vg00 to add 18gb
7. mirror disks
8. create new fs for my extra 9gb

Just want to confirm these with Guro's their is I miss to consider other things.

please advise and thanks in advance.

Perfect...

Just a sugestion:

recover using 18GB disk, then add 9GB disk and mirror.

I am agree with Carlos.

Ignite your system directly on your 18GB disk.

With this method, you can keep your 9GB disk if something going wrong during ignite ...

Patrice.

make sure when you mirror the disk that you do the first three logical volumes in this order:

lvol1 /
lvol3 /stand
lvol2 swap
