Mirrordisk Tier
I need to know what Tier-level to use when upgrading a mirrordisk and Online JFS license from one machine (a K360) to a new RP3440
In SalesBuilder there is a choice for Tier1 and Tier2
Ik kan binnen salesbuilder kiezen voor een upgrade van licenties (Mirrordisk/Online JFS) voor tier 1 en tier 2.
I cant find any useful info in the web on this subject.
Is there anyting else I should take into accoutn when upgrading to the other machine ?
Regards,
Ronald

Re: Mirrordisk Tier
If you have SalesBuilder then you can contact Connect OnLine Customer Support in Europe: +49/7031/468 3288 (english), see COL for local language numbers.
Email: infoline.pts@hp.com
Send your e-mail for SalesBuilder queries to: Configtools.support@hp.com
I would simply use SBW to generate a new rp3440, add mirrordisk and see what tier results.
BTW, you realise you are using the wrong forum? This is for technical discussion of obsolete HP 3000 servers that run MPE/iX OS.

Re: Mirrordisk Tier
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. The problem I had was that I could not find any list with information on what Tier class a system belonges to. So I did not know if the K360 belonges to the same class as the RP3440, I now found this list and found they should upgrade from tier 1 to tier 2.
Sorry for the inconvience I might have caused.
Regards,
Ronald

Re: Mirrordisk Tier
No inconvenience at all.
I downloaded the HP 9000 Ordering Guide from COL ESP and in chapter 5 found a table that lists "K-Class" under Tier 2 (Option AE5).
Does unfortunately not show rp3440 but rp5400 is under Tier 1 (Option AH0).
This is the reverse of your information but I think you can insist that the formal HP 9000 Ordering Guide must be adhered to.

Re: Mirrordisk Tier
Thanks for your answer, the thing I am now not clear about is; what is the correct tiering level to use for mirrordisk and jfs since it seems there can be differences between the system tier and the software tier.
for instance in subchapter 6.3 the guide for jfs says:
Software that provides online resizing and defragmentation of HP-UX journaled file systems.
Also takes file system snap shot on-line for backups. Must specify tier. OnLineJFS 3.3 is supported
on HP-UX 11.0 or later releases.
Tier 1 â A-Class, D-Class, E-Class F-Class, G-Class, K100, K200, K210, K220, K370, L-Class, AH0
R-Class
Tier 2 â H-Class, I-Class, K400, K410, K420, K460, K570, N-Class AE5
Tier 3 â T500, T520, T600, 890, V-Class AEP
Upgrade credit for processor on Tier 1 (AH0) 0GR
Upgrade credit for processor on Tier 2 (AE5) 0C8
So I guess for this product a K360 would mean Tier 1 according to the software Tier?? Or am I mistaken ?
