MirrorDiskUX missing in action!

MirrorDiskUX missing in action!

I have a M900/800/L200 running HPUX 11 that has most of root VG's LVs mirrored (SAM LV window and lvdisplay show 2 mirrors). The funny thing is that MirrorDiskUX does not seem to be installed. I have check for the bundle, filesets and codewords. How can this be?

Thanks,
Carl

Re: MirrorDiskUX missing in action!

swlist -l product | grep -i mirror

Does it show up?

If it was installed and then removed I think the mirrored lvm structure would remain, but I've never tried anything like that.

Re: MirrorDiskUX missing in action!

Hi and thanks for your replies. The mirroring software is no longer on the machine. Unless I have interpreted the LV data incorrectly, SAM shows 2 "Mirror Copies" as does lvdisplay, there are mirrored LV structures running. My concern now is that if I loose a disk in the mirror set will I be able to perform the LV tasks necessary to replace the disk and reform the mirror? :-/ Any thoughts on this? Anyone have an idea of how much a license for MirrorDiskUX might cost?

Thanks,
Carl

Re: MirrorDiskUX missing in action!

If the mirroring software is not installed, I don't know that you would be able to mirror anything new.

You MIGHT be able to replace a failed disk, but I don't know that I'd place bets on it.

Mirror/UX software:

It looks like it runs about $1,017 (I think that may be per CPU, but I'm not certain.)

Re: MirrorDiskUX missing in action!

Patrick's quote is per cpu. I just finished updating our license totals.

I believe Mirror/UX was once on this system and was removed.

I believe existing mirrors will be maintained, but if something breaks, you will not be able to rebuild them.

If you have codewords then reinstall the product.
