Mirroring in HP-UX 11i

Hello !

We have one RP5470 system (production Server)in which internal two disk are mirrored.
and second system (old D-class 250 system )
in which i have loaded 11i. Now Can i use a Mirrored licence which is for RP5470 for my testing purpose.
also I wanted to know how to do disk cloning
without using dd command in hpux 11i.

Hi,

Sorry not allowed and possible, you will need to purchase a new license for mirror ux.

For disk cloning you could use mirror ux, or indirect ignite could also do this.

you can do it by using "pvmove" command ...man pages of pvmove will give you all information and also go thru this link..

You could install the Mirrordisk/UX software on this new system, but prior you will need to copy the the appropriate line from the /var/adm/sw/.codewords file to the same named file on your new system. The line will be the one with the Mirrordisk part number, e.g. B2491BA

Once you have created the file and copied in the line entry, install Mirrordisk/UX and it should work.

NOTE: You will need to obtain a proper licence from HP and pay for it, unless of course you are using this system for crash/burn purposes. You should speak to your HP Technical Account Manager.

I believe that it is possible to mirror vg00 without a MirrorDisk license.

but I don't know if that's sufficient for your testing purpose

You can not use Mirror-UX license meant for rp5470 and thus will have to buy a fresh license for D250 server.

Disk cloning can then be done using mirror-ux

Nope - you can't use one license for 2 servers...

Now, mirror disk UX is included with HP-UX OE Enterprise.

Which OE do you have?


swlist |grep OE
