mod_jk.so missing after tomcat compile

Using apache 2.0.52, tomcat 4.1.29. Compiled apache from source for DSO... successful. Downloaded tomcat binary unix tar... works. downloaded tomcat source for connectors to compile mod_jk. Used an hp build script I found for hpux from tomcat 3.3a, which worked previously for that version. Made sure all my directories matched up, etc. The build went fine until the last where it copies mod_jk.so over to apache dir... it was missing. I found several others... mod_jk.o and mod_jk.slo and mod_jk.a

Am I missing something... besides patience.
