modem config on hpux 11.11

I am trying to configure a modem for dial-out and dial-out on a b2600 system I have a duplicate system that I have configured the modem to work. I have used the same modem and cable on the second system, but can't get it to work. The first system was configured months ago, so I don't know if I am missing a step. I have configured the ports in Sam. The ports confgured were ttyd1p0, cul1p0, and cua1p0. I have modified the /etc/uucp/Devices file and created the required lines. When I try accessing the modem with cu with getty running, I get a error that I can't connect to the device. If I turn getty on, it will connect but with no responce from key-board

Anyone have a clue?

Can't offer much help unfortunately but here's a link to doc that runs through all the steps involved to configure a modem(Chapter 3), hopefully you will find the info you need in it.
