modem getty dies
Modem setup is ok, I can call the modem but the getty dies before anything is typed
tusc output shows:

What can be the reason getty is receiving SIGHUP ???

It'd be useful to know which port the modem is connected to and the inittab and gettydefs entries used. Are you using the same settings as other, working boxes?

there is only this box with an attached modem:
gettydefs and inittab is a follows:
a0:234:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty -h -t 40 ttyd0p7 19200m
19200 # B19200 HUPCL OPOST CS8
# B19200 HUPCL SANE CS8 IXANY TAB3
# Please login(19200): #19200m

I'm guessing that the initial part of your gettydefs is a typo! It should be 19200m as that's in the last part of your entry, as well as the inittab entry.
Try using the following gettydefs entry as a test:
192modem #B19200 HUPCL SANE CS8 ISTRIP IXANY TAB3
#B19200 HUPCL SANE CS8 ISTRIP IXANY TAB3
#Modem Login: #192modem
Are you able to use Kermit to talk to the modem? If so, it'd be worth dialling out using the modem, and also calling the modem and answering the line from within Kermit.
Is the ttyd0p7 device file using CCITT? Use lssf to check as CCITT is rarely used in the UK; and I'm not sure how much it's used in Europe either.

sorry your gettydefs produced the sam results:
Received signal 1, SIGHUP, in read(), [SIG_DFL],
The device is using CCITT:
mux2 card instance 0 port 7 ccitt callin at address 10/4/0 /dev/ttyd0p7
I am able to callout using kermit and to send an receive files with kermit.
Only getty isn't working.

Your gettdefs and inittab look good.
The tricky part in Germany is not to use CCITT setting in the device file.
We use these settings for some time and they work.
We can dial in as well as dial out.

problem was not related to modem or getty configuration:
As this is a trusted system the modem device file /dev/ttyd0p7 has to be
included in /tcb/files/ttys
Modem login now works fine
