SolutionThe remote console is not meant for user dialup. it is only for HP Response centre to dial-in.
From the rp3440 training addendum........
The serial port controller is an Exar 162550 Dual-UART controller. It is fully compatible with the industry standard 16550 UART. Both ports implement all the serial signals, including modem and RING.
The two ports may be used either as general purpose serial ports, debug port or
headless/console port. The customer selects the usage of the ports through firmware settings.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Mohan.

Re: modem on a rp3440
I am yet to lay my hands on this rp3440 so I am not aware. But What I can say is, SAM will indicate the hardware path. You can co-relate this with the port numbers. Use Ioscan as well.
Then you can identify your port. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Mohan.

Re: modem on a rp3440
Just found this errata released about the rp3410 and rp3440 on the docs.hp.com. According to this document the serial ports are only for factory use.
Therefore you cannot use them for modem connectivity. Check the attachment here.
Cheers,
Mohan.
