SolutionBecause I absolutely despise clutter in data-centers and let's face it, modems tend to be clutter, I favor rack-mounted solutions.
I suggest that you look into Multitech's CC1600 Series or ZDXModemRack. You will pay more on the front end but you get a nice package that can accomodate more modems as you add more hosts.

Re: modem recommendation
I second Clay's recommendation on MultiTech rack mounts - they are first rate.
Another thing they shine at is error-correction.
They are not the fastest modems around on squeaky clean telco connections, but they ARE the fastest on marginal connections. Also they fully support the entire Hayes command set so setup requires no modifications. Just set them to the Hayes mode, use the Hayes dialer (if outbound)
& let 'em rip.
My 2 cents,
Jeff

Re: modem recommendation
We use MT2834ZDXb modems in a multitech rack mounted above the servers. It looks sharp, even without the door. With dual power, we are confident at least half of our EDI modems will be operational.
Their web page is www.multitech.com, phone 800-972-2439...
Apologies in advance if the "plug" offends anyone. They are the best modems...
