Is there any other way to reset a modem (internal) apart from a total power off ?

If you mean the internal modem in the D class range, the sad and depressing answer is NO.
There is a document somewhere in the response centre though that describes how to sort out a load of the timing problems that result in modem stops responding on the D class - I'll have a hunt about for it...

SolutionFor K/D series(internal):
Connect to the modem and issue an AT&D3
If this doesn't work, then the system will need to be shutdown with a -h power cycled and restarted.
For N/L Class(for the :
Issue a ^B(controlB) to get into the GSP mode.
GSP>MR (modem reset)
