modem setup

I setup a usr 336 modem using sam but cna not access it
using the cu command. is a reboot required for a dial out modem? or are there
other things i should look into

Lets start with basics.

The whole of the modem configuration lives
in /usr/lib/uucp. Under there you will see files
like Devices - defines the actual tty line to use
its speed, and type,
Dialers - has the particular strings for handshaking the modem types
Systems - defines the cu {system} what device,
at what definition, speed and phone number to use.

Check that these are right.

IF they are ok, and you are still having problems.

connect to the modem first

cu -l /dev/tty0p1
and see that your modem is setup correct. try dialing out from the modem by
issuing the at commands.
