Monitor settings HP-UX 10.20
On our network we have a HP 715-80 with a HP 20" Monitor. The next problem happens:
User1 logs in with VUE his display area is the maximum. OK.
User2 logs in with VUE his display arrea is two and a half cm shorter then user1.
My question is: Is this a setting controlled by a user ? So yes, witch one?
HP-UX 10.20
Best Regards,
Marcel

Re: Monitor settings HP-UX 10.20
I personally would suggest moving out of the way the users $HOME/.vue directory as this will contain both VUE and Xwindow customisation settings and resources. VUE will simply recreate the entries with system defaults.Do this whilst the user is logged out of VUE ie from the command line !
Another way could be to check what resources (assuming that it is these causing the problem) are being set for a good user and a bad one : try comparing outputs from xset -q and xrdb -q though this is not a finite list.
One thing for sure it's not due to HP cutbacks ;)

Re: Monitor settings HP-UX 10.20
just checked man X & vuewm ...couldn't see any resources that could directly affect this ... you may also want to check for the existence of a $HOME/.Xdefaults file : if found move it out of the way & inconjuction with the .vue directory (they can always be put back again) ... let us know how you get on .

Re: Monitor settings HP-UX 10.20
Thank you for your time and answers,
It is a very strange behavior but I'm going to find the differance between the good and bad user. I let it know....

Re: Monitor settings HP-UX 10.20
I remove the bad user from the system (included $HOME)and create the same new user,
the problem still exist.
Reboot the system again (3rd time)
And everything is now okay.
Regards,
Marcel
