mount a remote cdrom for swinstall

I would like to know if I can mount my mac cdrom to my HPUX 11i V1 server and use it with swinstall? If so what is the easiest way to accomplish this task?

Re: mount a remote cdrom for swinstall

Hi Craig,

Export /dev/cdrom on your Mac. Then, from HP-UX:

# mount -r mymac:/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

(Create '/mnt/cdrom' if it does not exist.)

Craig:

What are you going to install using swinstall. Remember that swinstall will only show or install what is compatible with your HPUX version.

Re: mount a remote cdrom for swinstall

Hello Craig,
Given that SD-UX requires the swagent and swagentd daemons running in both the server and the client systems you may find that you need to set up a something like a NFS share to export the Mac device as a mountable resource to the HP-UX system and then run swinstall in your local/target HP-UX system.

I hope it helps.
