Mount DVD ROM

I need to do some patching on 11.11 server running on L3000 server. When I issue swinstall command it cant go to the dvd rom. Can some one tell me how to mount the dvd rom and tell me steps to mount it and do swinstall from there.

Re: Mount DVD ROM

First run ioscan to find out the device file for your DVD drive. It should look something like this:

ioscan -kfnCdisk
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=======================================================================
disk 0 10/0/14/0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR81
62B
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
disk 2 10/0/15/1.5.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 73.4GST373307LC
/dev/dsk/c3t5d0 /dev/rdsk/c3t5d0
disk 1 10/0/15/1.6.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 73.4GST373207LC
/dev/dsk/c3t6d0 /dev/rdsk/c3t6d0

Then create a mount point if you don't have one already:

mkdir /cdrom

Then mount it:

mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom

Re: Mount DVD ROM

another way....

run swinstall, Specify the source as LOCAL CDROM, Find Local CD...
This should work as well, worth giving a try?:)

Hey Torsten,

Thank you very much for your help. It worked and then I run swverify command to see if it is installed properly.

Re: Mount DVD ROM

Thank you very much, one last question in this regard. I also need to install OnlineDiag. On the DVD there is a directory named DIAGNOSTICS and it has only one file:

ll
total 58340
-r-xr-xr-x 1 -1 -1 29870080 Oct 30 2007 B.11.11

When i am trying to install it through swinstall -s /SD_CDROM/DIAGNOSTICS, its saying not a valid depot.

Can some one give me some guidance in this regard?

You need to run

# swinstall -s /SD_CDROM/DIAGNOSTICS/B.11.11

Hope this helps!

Re: Mount DVD ROM

Shalom,

Alternate suggestion.

swinstall -i

A menu will help you mount the DVD and do the install.

Almost as good as "gack" Windows.

In all seriousness one of the better text based windowing install interfaces I've ever seen.
