mount -F cifs is invalid after 11i upgrade

I have been using cifsclient on HP-UX 11.00 to map WIndows folders on mu HP box. This morning I updated the box to 11i. Now I get mount: cifs : Invalid argument when I try to mount -F cifs.
Do I need a new version of cifsclient for 11i?

Re: mount -F cifs is invalid after 11i upgrade

It would be a good idea to get a new version of CIFS/9000 and install it.

It is now however required.

You should upgrade the server too.

This may be a syntax issue.

Can you post the script or /etc/fstab entry so I can test it for you?

Did you have any error during your 11i install? Are you sure that the CIFS components are installed and enabled on the system properly? Check your install log and patches.

Re: mount -F cifs is invalid after 11i upgrade

Hi,

It sounds to me like an upgrade of the client would be a good idea, links were posted earlier in this thread. I think CIFS client does hook into the kernel. Have you checked the CIFS client logs and/or syslog and rc.log to see if the client started correctly?

I believe that cifsmount will become obsolete, leaving mount -F cifs to be the method you should use in the future!

regards,

Darren.

I installed the latest version. As suggested, this involved a kernel rebuild and it is all OK now. Thanks.
