Mounting LUN Read Only not updating file system
Hi All,
I have a LUN on an EVA6000 presented to server1 in read/write mode. I have that same LUN presented to server2 and mounted in read only mode.
Problem is when I modify the files on server1 those changes don't show up on server2 unless the file system is remounted.
Is this expected behaviour?

Re: Mounting LUN Read Only not updating file system
Yes, it is as long as you don have implemented clustering.
File system changes are not communicated to the read-only system.
Best regards,
Horia.

Re: Mounting LUN Read Only not updating file system
not only will this not work, but it is also unsupported... filesystems have in-memory structures and caches - in your case how will the 2nd node know when changes have ocurred on the filesystem if the chnages are still in cache - or alternativel what happens when part of a change is written to disk but some is still in cache, the 2nd system will probably end up seeing corrupted/inconsistent data.
the only way to do this is either using NFS to the 2nd node, or using a cluster filesystem such as that in the Serviceguard Storage Management Suite:
