Mounting NT share to HP-UX using SAMBA

Hello,
I want to use NT shares on HP UX 10.20.
I have installed samba on the unix.
With smbclient I am able to see the shares from NT, but I can't use "mount -t smbfs" ..
"mount -t illegal option", and I can't find smbmount anywhere.
Is there any additional installation, configuration neccessary?
Thanks for your help
best regards
Bettina

Re: Mounting NT share to HP-UX using SAMBA

Hi

i agree with you - i also haven't found smbmount at the samba depot for HP-UX 10.20.
But on HP-UX 11.00 the depot CIFS9000 (which is the official ported version of samba for HP-UX 11.00) there is a tool cifsmount which works fine.

Re: Mounting NT share to HP-UX using SAMBA

HP-UX 11.00 is the only version HP-UX that supports mounting of CIFS shares.

Your only option on 10.20 is smbclient

Re: Mounting NT share to HP-UX using SAMBA

Samba is not supported with NNM 6.1, this can cause database problems. NNM only support NT shares (NT to NT) and NT to Unix and Unix to NT via nsf & pc/nfs.
See the scalability guide for NNM 6.1 for more information.
