Moutning optical disks
We have a K400 running 11i. The server has an optical disk unit installed. I need to mount an optical disk which has been used in the drive before. The problem is, I cannot remember how to mount the optical disk - I have looked at ioscan -fn but can see no entry referring to the optical unit. We recently upgraded the server from 11.0 to 11i but haven't needed to use the optical drive for over a year - hence the memory loss ! All help appreciated.

Re: Moutning optical disks
you can find out the device file names from:
# ioscan -fnC disk
create mount points and mount with:
# mount /dev/dsk/cxtydz /mnt_pnt
# ioscan -fnC disk
create mount points and mount with:
# mount /dev/dsk/cxtydz /mnt_pnt

Re: Moutning optical disks
Hi Simon,
I'd check the SCSI cables & terminator to this drive, power-cycle it & re-run ioscan.
It's also possible that the last time the system was booted, the Optical drive was powered down. Some SCSI HBAs will not auto-detect devices that are powered up after a boot. You may need to reboot the system after verifying that the Optical drive is powered up.
Also I'd recommend that you narrow the scan to
ioscan fnC disk
to make it easier to spot the drive, if it's being reported.
Rgds,
Jeff
