Move operating system disk from D250 to D370

Those servers both have HA storage enclosures. Is it possible to install HPUX 11 in the D250 with a 9GB disk and then boot from that same disk on the D370 ?

Hi,

i would not recommend that.
D250 and D370 have different (bus) architecture.
You will go into trouble when booting at D370 from a D250 installed system.

don't do it. D250 has PA7200 (PA-RISC 1)and D370 has PA8000 (PA-RISC 2) processors.
Also Hardware paths are incompatible.

The D250 and D370 have the same bus architecture (both systems have a runwaybus-GSC bus converter on the system card).
The Hardware addresses are the same for both systems

I don't see why it won't work. It certainly won't do any harm to try it!

I presume that you are trying to save some time by not installing on the D370 in the first place?

i looked at /usr/sam/lib/mo/sched.models and found that D250 and D370 have different cpu level (as Reiner said). So i guessed (this was for sorry) the bus is also different.
I'm not looking for being a guru but when i look at JRF's points i think he's the one who goes straight to this level ;-)

Thank you all. I did try it but it didn't work. So had to wait for the D370 for a clean HPUX install ...
