HP-UX Admins,
If I have to eliminate PowerPath and make use of native MPIO, are there any documents, pointers, technical instructions somewhere which you can send me? Any input would be most appreciated.( I am familiar with the steps needed to move from EMC PowerPath to native MPIO/Multipathing in the RHEL world. I've never done that before in the HP-UX environment)
Regards,
-Kennedy

Re: Moving from EMC PowerPath to MPIO on HP-UX 11.31
You're going to want EMC Host Connectivity Guide for HP-UX to cover the details. It's available on EMC PowerLink. The current version is September 2011.

Re: Moving from EMC PowerPath to MPIO on HP-UX 11.31
Hi Kennedy,
Just follow these two attached docs which explains step by step instruction on how to configure Native MPIO in HP-UX to work with Storage Array. I was successfully configured three of our RX6600 IA64/HP-UX 11.31 server with EMC Clariion array.

Solution
If you have PowerPath you would have to export the VG, remove powerpath & then import the VG. Note that the export will remove the VG so do this with caution. I would try on a test environment first.
# vgexport -m /tmp/vgev01.mapfile -s -v /dev/vgev01
Here's how to remove PowerPath:
# swremove -x autoreboot=true -x mount_all_filesystems=false EMCpower
Re-create and it will use the persistent names of the disk devices.
# mkdir /dev/vgev01
# mknod /dev/vgev01/group c 64 0x200000
# vgimport -m /tmp/vgev01.mapfile -s -N -v /dev/vgev01
thanks,
