moving users and groups

Is there an easy way to move users and groups from on old HP-UX 11i to a new one?

The old system is being replaced by the new one.

Regards,

John.

Re: moving users and groups

Sure... copy /etc/passwd, /etc/group, home directories, and (if it's a trusted system) /tcb.

Re: moving users and groups

1) copy /etc/passwd, /etc/group, and the home directories from old box to new.

2) If this is a Trusted system, copy the entire /tcb directory tree as well.

Before doing any of this make backup copies of the above files and be logged in as root in at least two sessions --- that way you can get yourself out of trouble as fast as you got yourself in.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
